It’s not shown per se, but all trades in the game require your offers to be slightly more than your demanded goods. By selecting the traded items carefully, you can often get it to a 0.
It also means that big trades are much more efficient than the small ones. NOTE: The most accurate and detailed information on trading can be found here , in RedKnight7’s user page. It provides great detail on the mechanics and tactics of trading, although some figures are slightly out of date. The information below is paraphrased from RedKnight7’s page with updates applied where new information has been found.

For information on the values of traded goods see the page on Franko. For a detailed explanation of the game mechanics behind trading, see RedKnight7’s user page here. Traders will barter goods with your survivors. Every so often–after several days have passed–a traveling trader named Franko will show up at your shelter’s front door and offer to barter. To access other traders, a survivor must scavenge at that trader’s location see table below.
To trade, click on the trade icon next to the trader. This will take you to a trade screen where you will see your goods on the left and the traders goods on the right. Click items on both sides to select them for trading. As you select items, a variety of messages will appear at the very top of the screen. If the message says „it’s very generous of you“, you are paying too much. If the message says „It won’t do, try harder“,the trader will not accept that offer.
You can maximize the value of a trade by adding items on the traders side until you get the „no deal“ message, and then removing one low value item. Katia has the trait Bargaining Skills , which allow her to trade more efficiently with Franko and some other traders, getting a lower price.

There are circumstances in which a bandage is worth more than a diamond. For example: any circumstance in which you happen to find yourself bleeding heavily. This War of Mine pretty much buries you in these kinds of circumstances. It’s a survival game, and, for all its panic and blind grasping, it’s also a game about economics.
Wartime economics. Prison economics. Diamonds are down, and bandages are up – way up. I was introduced to this collapse in the value of diamonds because I’d been asking 11 Bit Studios‘ senior writer Pawel Miechowski about the grotesque nature of war – or rather, about how it’s the innate grotesqueness of war that comes through most vividly these days now that the stoical, stagey distance of newsreel men has been replaced with something a little more immediate.
In Sarajevo, which is a very well-documented siege, vodka was the best tradeable item. That’s the grotesque, right? They were using the vodka to clean wounds, to drink when they needed cheering up, and to trade for the supplies they needed to get by. Vodka and cigarettes. When the Second World War was over, the official currency of Germany was cigarettes. You trade items for items in war.

This, however, does mean the game gets repetitive really fast, and I have a habit of clicking that end day button when all chores are finished, but I want to be assured that I won’t miss a visitor by doing this. I’m kind’ve wishing that there was a button to fast forward, or more accurately, the „end day“ button would not allow me to press it if there’s a visitor scheduled for that day. I want to meet everybody and help everyone like the goody twoshoes I am.
So what times did you all have visitors?
